About

Korean singing and dancing troupe which toured to Singapore, Hong Kong and elsewhere in the 1960s.

“3 girls and a boy to entertain you – one of the most exciting song & dance acts from Korea.” [Straits Times, May 18, 1966, p. 4]

In Singapore, the troupe appeared at several venues during 1966 — sometimes even seeming to perform at multiple venues concurrently. They arrived in May 1966 to appear at the Arundel Room (Goodwood Hotel) and later performed at the Ocean Park Hotel in July 1966, in what was expected to be a limited engagement of three months. By the end of July, advertisements promoted their “Farewell Performance.”

However, due to their popularity, their stay was continually extended, and they subsequently appeared at The Adelphi Grill (August 1966) and Club 77 (August–September 1966). Advertisements repeatedly announced their impending departure:

  • “Farewell Performance.” [Straits Times, August 13, 1966, p. 6]
  • “Last performance in Singapore! Don’t miss them!” [Straits Times, August 14, 1966, p. 9]
  • “Last 2 nights in S’pore before going to Hong Kong.” [Straits Times, September 10, 1966, p. 4]
  • “Farewell Performance.” [Straits Times, September 17, 1966, p. 4]

Even this last “Farewell Performance” was not final — the troupe remained in Singapore for another week, performing at the Continental Nightclub until September 24, 1966.

They presumably left for Hong Kong afterward, though further details of their tour are unknown.
