About
“A performance of a play by certain amateurs among the crew of that vessel” (The Singapore Free Press, 1840, 5 March). The principal piece was John Bull or the Englishman’s Fireside, followed with songs and recitations, and concluded with the afterpiece of “Raising the Wind”. The performance was by invitation only. The Cruizer later left for China, and was involved in the Opium War.
